The exact wording from the service report are: COOLANT PUMP IS BINDING. FOUND FAULTS FOR COOLANT PUMP. CHECKED WIRING TO PUMP AND FOUND SLUGGISH MOVEMENT. RECOMMEND THERMOSTAT AS WELL. COULD NOT TEST DUE TO COOLANT PUMP FAILURE. Of course I barely made it home from the dealer.
Solution: This is potentially an easy fix. Simply top up your coolant to the “Max” or “Full” level when the engine is cold. Use a 50/50 coolant-and-water mix, as specified in your owner’s manual. I've been having an issue with it lately, and after reading the codes myself and checking the hidden menu, it appears that sensor has gone bad. The temp reads -128C in the menu, and the fault code it throws is for an invalid signal.

Lift the hood and secure it in the open position. Locate the Coolant Reservoir. Next, you locate the coolant reservoir (tank) on your BMW.
