The only real setback to playing DMC 3 first is that DMC 3 has a very massive move set compared to DMC 1 and DMC 3 has way more weapons. So, if you play DMC 3 first and then go play DMC 1, you might be disappointed by the lack of moves in DMC 1. But story wise, the DMC games go in this order: DMC 3. DMC 1.
Playing DMC 4 might get you use to playing Nero and Dante. Especially Dante since you have not played him with switching styles on the d-pad. Since 5 Dante is most likely an improved version of 4 Dante gameplay. The reboot had that unnecessary gimmick with the angelic and demonic weapons only working on certain enemies which this one doesn't have. I don't remember that much from the reboot but I think that was the biggest difference gameplay wise. Ultimately I think DMC 5 is a much better game but if you're looking for a continuation of the reboot A. You're supposed to use JUMP to dodge. Jump over their attacks. Either that, or don't give your enemies an opening at all. B. Because combos are based off of directional inputs, and lock-on like a fighting game. Make sure you do not slide from attack to jump. You have to pick your finger up from attack to jump, then slide to attack. Even though you can JC nearly everything, including guns, it's best to learn to jc single hit rave. Dante's timing is slightly faster than Nero's. JC is much easier in DMC5 than in previous titles.
Nero - Abuse ragtime and devil buster arm. So let's say you're on mission and you know for a fact you're going to deal with some bullshit (Fury), ragtime, buster enemies that are the worst problems for you (because it's a one hit kill). Rinse and repeat. Stock up ragtimes and busters at every statue.
You don't need to, but it works better with certain contexts from older games, like the backstories yes, but also lots of other references, and some things will be confusing and not feel as satisfying and cool as if you'd played the games before this because it was a culmination of everything that's come before Other devil hunters you coul probably just change q,e,f and the style switch buttons to whatever you want. I also use the side mouse button for things you need to hold during combat like Nero's charge shot And yes my left hand is very swole Play at least 3 > 4 > 5 and then go really deep into 5. 3 is really strong, but way more aged (like 1). 4 was rushed in production and is lacking in some parts, but modern and really good in other parts.

Do I have to do anything to play as Vergil? (DMC5) So I literally just bought the PC version of DMC 5 and the Vergil DLC, but when I log in its just the base game. My steam says its installed, I'm just wondering if I have to play through the game again to access him? I have bought the dlc but it doesn't show the Vergil selection. Please help me. Nero is designed to be the "new face" of Devil May Cry. While Dante is the favorite character of all veterans players, Nero is the favorite of new comers or people who started play on DMC 4. Nero is a solid characters, he is a mix between Dante and Virgil, while also having unique personality traits, he is definitely a good characters that has
